Paint Hide · A practical starting point

The rule to keep in mind
Paint Hide is a camouflage hide-and-seek puzzle set in a gallery courtyard. You play a small gel slime, and a cloaked hunter with a lantern walks a patrol through the yard. Four paint mats — coral, teal, indigo and gold — sit on the floor, and only some of them are active on each stage. Stand on an active mat in the matching colour and you are camouflaged; hold still long enough and the stage clears. Get caught in the wrong colour near the hunter’s light and you start again instantly. From stage 3, some green SAFE labels and glows are decoys, and the last stages move the safe mat while you watch. A seeded Daily Hide adds one new courtyard every day.
Start with the constraint
The hunter ignores you when you match an active mat, even inside its light.
Make one useful change
Paint before you arrive, not after — repainting takes a moment.
Keep a way back
Labels that say SAFE are cues, not promises. The colour of the active mat is what counts.
On the moving-mat stages, follow the mat and keep the hold meter running.
Play today’s Daily Hide for one seeded courtyard that matches everyone else’s — clear it on the day to grow your streak.
Controls and a safe pause
Move with WASD or the arrow keys. Press 1–4 to paint yourself coral, teal, indigo or gold, or click a paint zone. Touch the left half of the screen and drag to move: a joystick appears under your finger and follows it until you let go. Tap a paint mat or a colour swatch to paint yourself. Works in landscape and portrait.
Open the game’s menu to pause and find its save tools. This game has no export tool; keep browser data to retain its progress. If a step feels unclear, return to the rule and the current goal rather than rushing.
