How to play & controls

Lying Lawn is a one-stroke route puzzle on a 3D garden. Your mower starts on the flag tile and every move goes to a neighbouring tile. Mown grass can never be crossed again, and you clear the lawn by cutting every real tile. Bumping into a birdbath, rock, stump or hedge is free. The catch is that not everything that looks like grass is grass: some tiles are plastic fake turf that jams the mower, a KEEP OFF stake might be standing on a tile you must mow, and the garden gnome’s SAFE sign is usually a lie.

  1. Plan a route that visits every grass tile once, without diagonals and without backtracking.
  2. Look closely before you commit: fake turf has a stitched seam, a too-even tuft grid and no blade shadow at its edges.
  3. If you run out of legal moves with grass left, or roll onto fake turf, the lawn fails and the fakes are revealed.
  4. Retry instantly; revealed fakes stay visible on every retry, and the hint bar names the real next tile.
  5. Later lawns add rain timers and two or three fakes on bigger grids.

Move with WASD or the arrow keys. R retries, Enter or Space continues after a clear, Esc opens the stage list, M toggles sound. Tap a tile next to the mower or swipe in a direction. Use the on-screen Retry, Next, Stages and Sound buttons.

Tips & saving

Start from the corners and edges you can only reach one way — they decide the route.

Count the tiles around a blocker before you pass it; dead ends usually hide behind birdbaths.

The three fake-turf tells are the same on every lawn, so learn them on Lawn 4 and trust your eyes.

A KEEP OFF stake is not a blocker. If the tile under it is real grass, it still has to be mown.

Common questions

Is Lying Lawn free?

Yes. It runs in your browser with no download, account or purchase.

How many levels are there?

30 lawns in five tiers: Teach, Compound, Lies, Pressure and Finale. Every lawn has been checked by a solver and has at least two valid routes.

What happens when I fail?

The lawn exposes its fakes and the retry is instant. You can clear any lawn in honest mode.

Is there a daily puzzle?

Yes. The Daily Lawn is one generated lawn per local calendar day, the same for everyone. Difficulty follows the weekday, from easy on Monday to devious, with rain, on Sunday. Play it from the title screen or on our Daily page.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. Tap or swipe to move. The 3D garden is heavier than our 2D games, so older phones may run it at a lower frame rate.
